How to maximize your FUN at Kelong!
You know, people always think that staying in a Kelong means living without the comfort of technology, but hey!
Kelongs DO have CABLE TV, so not only local Malay channels, but Hong Kong and Korean Dramas and Singapore serials screen through clearly 24/7. KARAOKE sets are available for use, ranging from Hokkien oldies to English top charts, suitable for people who love to to exercise their vocals. When you're surrounded with sea, why not go for a swim? Boats ferry you to the nearby beach island for an afternoon swim if the weather permits. Of course, the main point of a Kelong is for fishing activists and enthusiasts or just-wanna-have-fun-ist to fish to their hearts delight! Large expanses of deep sea surround you, and the Kelong staff also include a huge square fishing spot for all to fish for sotongs and fishes behind the kitchen while schools of fish fight for food. 6 REASONS TO GO KELONG
1) you can sleep all you want! or stay up really late! there' a lights out at 11pm, but that's to attract the nocturnal fish. spotlights also help.
2) FISH! now that's important! the kelong holds and abundant variety of marine life for the keen. boat trips for deep sea fishing and squidding can also be arranged. also, shoals of bait fish arrive at pretty regular hours.
3) delicious home cooked food! enjoy simple yet mouth-watering dishes during your stay, straight piping hot from the kitchen. fresh seafood, crunchy vegetables, all at low costs. there' even a western hot-plate stand, for that midnight craving. four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. the western stall operates from 10pm till 2am. tea, coffee, and snacks are available 24/7 though, and there's a constant supply of fresh drinking water.
4) polish your angling skills! you can go there to simply explore squidding or angling, and there are many professionals there to groom you! user-ready fishing rods for every kind of fish possible are available for rental. speak to your friendly guide. :)
